  • German Gorbunstov was shot six times and is lucky to be alive after the attack in March
  • The banker and businessman fled Russia for the UK because he feared for his life
  • One man covering his face with a hoodie, and another in a leather jacket seen at Canary Wharf station before and after the shooting are wanted
By Martin Robinson

This is one of two hitmen shown moments after shooting Russian billionaire German Gorbunstov six times outside his luxury Docklands apartment.
The mystery man is seen calmly walking onto the platform at Canary Wharf Tube Station just after spraying the businessman and banker with bullets as he walked into his block of flats in March this year.
Gorbunstov's foyer was left splattered with blood after the shooting and the gunman and his accomplice sprinted off and dumped the weapon, a standard issue Soviet military Makarov 9mm pistol, together with a hoodie.

Police are desperate to track the suspects and have received a 'number of calls' following a Crimewatch recreation last night.
Incredible CCTV footage shows one man, dressed in jeans and a leather jacket at Canary Wharf tube station before and after the shooting while the other is seen in a hoodie walking purposefully in a street near the attack.

45-year-old Gorbunstov, who fled Russia because he feared for his safety, was shot in the stomach and face on March 20 and was rushed to hospital where he still remains in a stable condition, but he says he will be left disabled.
Mr Gorbunstov said he suffered 'serious internal damage' and still has not been told by doctors if he will recover fully.
'They found six bullets inside me I was badly injured and badly affected. I have serious internal damage to my body and I still haven’t seen a single doctor who is absolutely convinced it will be fine,' he added.

'I will make it but I will be disabled. My future is uncertain.
'The worst feeling is that guy shot me and ran away and probably very much hoped he had killed me.
'This incident has changed my whole life.'
The first suspect is described as white, 6ft tall and of slim build, wearing a dark hooded top.
He was seen running from Byng Street away from Westferry Road, believed through Bellamy Close, towards the Marsh Wall area at about 7:20pm on the night of the shooting.

They say a hooded top similar to the one worn by the suspected assassin is similar to another that was found in bushes near to Mr Gorbunstov’s luxury flat, along with a gun and fake black leather bag.
Police are releasing CCTV images of another man they wish to speak to who was seen leaving Canary Wharf tube station with a bag, minutes before Mr Gorbunstov was gunned down.
He is later seen getting back on the platform at Canary Wharf without the bag just minutes later at about 7:30pm.
Police confirm there have been no arrests so far and 'retain an open mind regarding a motive'.

They are also still appealing for the driver of a Hackney cab to come forward, who picked up Mr Gorbunstov in the Bishopsgate area around 7pm, before dropping him in Byng Street at 7:20pm.
Detective Chief Inspector Russell Taylor, from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: 'We are keen to speak with anyone who may have information about a man captured on CCTV the night before the shooting, Monday 19 March.
'He is seen in the vicinity close to where Mr Gorbunstov was shot, wearing a hooded top. Did you see this man?

'A hooded top similar to the one the man is seen wearing in the CCTV footage was found in bushes nearby, along with a gun and a fake black leather bag.
'The gun, a 9mm Makarov pistol, is highly unusual and is rarely used in Britain.
'I urge anyone with information about the CCTV footage, the gun or anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area, to contact the incident room.'
