Two soldiers were seriously wounded by a bomb
explosion while they were patrolling in Muang district of Pattani
province on Tuesday night.
Police said the 20kg bomb was hidden in a fire extinguisher cylinder.It exploded about 10.30pm as a team of eight soldiers of Infantry Company 1524 of Pattani Task Force 43 was patrolling the road along Don Rak canal in tambon Don Rak of Muang district.
The improvised bomb had been placed at a roadside tree and was detonated remotely by radio.
Two patrol members were seriously wounded - Pvt Sukri Sulong, 22, and Pvt Pansak Chualai, 21.
They were admitted to Pattani Hospital.
