Let's hope they stand a bit closer at the altar! Engaged couple David Mitchell and Victoria Coren look distant at Olympics party

They shocked everyone with their engagement announcement earlier this year but David Mitchell and Victoria Coren don’t look like a couple merrily planning their wedding. 
The funnyman and his fiancée were on their way to Elisabeth Murdoch and Matthew Freud’s house warming and Olympic party at their home in London’s Primrose Hill on Friday when they were spotted walking on opposite sides of the footpath. 
Bearded Mitchell, in a black shirt and navy trousers with a bottle in his hand didn’t even look at his beautiful bride to be, who was dressed in a stunning red dress with nude heels.

However, it is likely the loved up pair were simply trying to avoid waiting photographers as they rarely discuss their relationship.

 

So secretive are they in fact that their engagement announcement was made not via the usual PR representative or even Twitter which is favoured by so many stars these days but rather through a more old fashioned method of an announcement in The Times newspaper.
The piece, which was published in March referred to ‘Mr D.J.S. Mitchell and Miss V.E. Coren’ in the forthcoming marriages section.

It read ‘The engagement is announced between David, son of Mr and Mrs Ian Mitchell, of Oxford, and Victoria, daughter of Dr Anne Coren and the late Mr Alan Coren, of London.'
Mitchell, who also hosts 10 O'Clock Live and is a regular on Have I Got News For You, has been dating the Only Connect star for some time.
She is also a renowned poker play who at age 33 won $1million at the European Poker Championships.
But the pair have largely kept the relationship out of the public eye.

However, they did both react to the news on Twitter with Coren thanking fans by saying: 'I'm very happy.'
And despite opting for the traditional way with the newspaper announcement, the outpouring of congratulatory messages over the internet left David ecstatic.
He wrote on his own Twitter page: 'Having received so many lovely messages today, I'm finally coming round to the idea of the internet. Thank you all. I'm incredibly happy.'

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson was in good spirits for the House Warming & Olympic Party hosted by Elisabeth Murdoch and Matthew Freud in Notting Hill

It is thought the pair met while Coren appeared on BBC TV show The Bubble in February, 2010, in which Mitchell hosted.
Other guests at the party included Guy Ritchie and his son Rocco from his marriage to Madonna. 
The film director had a huge smile on his face as he attended with his oldest child, no doubt thrilled with the recent revelation that he and his girlfriend Jacqui Ainsley are expecting their second child together.

The Apprentice star Karren Brady looked chic and summery as she carried a present into the house

Guy was causal in a blue shirt and tan trousers while Rocco jeans, a hoodie and a baseball cap.
Claudia Winkleman looked stunning in a full length peach skirt and black blazer while Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson wore a tan blazer, black shirt, jeans and unusually for him, a small smile.
Model Laura Bailey was pretty in turned up jeans, a flower printed shirt and futuristic looking orange and silver wedges.
The blonde beauty was accompanied by film producer Eric Fellner.
